Signs of a Congested Lymphatic System

Efficient, effective lymphatic drainage is essential for healing, detoxification, and wellness.

When the lymphatic system is congested or blocked, toxins and waste in the body have difficulty entering the lymphatic system. The pipes are backed up, so to speak, and the interstitial spaces end up retaining unhealthy fluids.

Individual cells, as well as tissue groups, are unable to efficiently receive oxygen and nutrients.

Cells and tissues are no longer able to do their job to their best ability, and this sets the stage for increased inflammation, illness, and potential disease.

Some signs of a congested or sluggish lymphatic system are:

Fatigue

Swelling, Puffiness, Skin Tightness

Difficulty fitting into clothes, shoes, jewelry

Heaviness in parts of the body (especially in legs)

Stiffness/pain/achiness in one or more joints, or overall

Muscle tightness/pain/achiness/knots

Frequent soreness, stiffness

Decreased joint range of motion

Headaches

Sinus issues, stuffy nose

Recurring colds

Allergies

Brain fog - lack of focus, lack of mental clarity, forgetfulness

Bloating, constipation, irregular bowel movements

Food sensitivities

Dry skin, itchy skin, acne, rashes, etc.

Change in skin texture, loss of skin elasticity

Having one or more of these signs does not mean for certain that a person has a sluggish lymphatic system - yet it is likely. Knowing that this could be part of the issue, it is always best practice to check with one's trusted physician to rule out other possibilities.

Lymphatic therapy (aka MLD, or lymphatic massage) promotes optimal uptake of inflammation, toxins, viruses, bacteria, etc. into the lymphatic system to be broken down, processed, and flushed out of the body.

This is a vital system for health and wellbeing. Taking care of it in the best ways possible include lymphatic therapy, provided by a certified manual lymphatic drainage therapist.
